Avison Young Acquires Realty Management Co., Taps Owner as Principal

Avison Young purchased Realty Management Co., a property management, facility management and engineering services company based in Bethesda, MD. The acquisition expanded AY?s commercial real estate services in the metro Washington, DC, area and added nearly 40 workers to the business. The Canada-headquartered firm now has three offices in the region and 11 in the United States.
Realty Management Co. is a 36-year-old third-party property management group. Donna B. Kay (pictured) took ownership of the operation in 1988 to grow the company to more than 2 million square feet of private estates, embassies and commercial office and medical buildings under management. The Tulane University graduate has 24 years of commercial and medical property management, leasing, development construction and project maintenance experience. Kay was appointed a principal of AY.
AY will rebrand Realty Management Co.?s current office in Bethesda and take over management of a number of buildings owned by Inova Health System, Sentara Potomac Hospital, 1430 K Street Condominium Association, Johns Hopkins Healthcare/Suburban Hospital, NexCore Group LP, Sibley Memorial Hospital and Lorton Professional Center Association, among others.

KBS Realty Advisors Names New Asset Manager for Northeast U.S.

KBS Realty Advisors named Randi Kaufman to serve as its senior vice president and asset manager for the northeast region. The former Blackrock exec will be based in New York and will oversee all asset management functions for KBS properties in New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Ohio and Pennsylvania, which currently encompasses 5.9 million square feet.
In addition to being responsible for the leasing and operation for each property in the portfolio, Kaufman will also be responsible for all third-party consultants and agents in the region.
In her four years with New York-based Blackrock, Inc., Kaufman was vice president and asset manager, responsible for a $500 million portfolio of multifamily units, condominiums and land developments in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Florida. Previously, she was an investment manager for the Hampshire Cos. in Morristown, NJ.

BRA Names d?Hemecourt President of Retail Division

Boston Realty Advisors expanded its retail real estate group and tapped Michael d?Hemecourt as its head. The former Cushman & Wakefield executive will lead the division as partner and president.
The Boston College grad has eight years of commercial real estate experience. He spent two years as an associate at Paramount Partners LLC before serving as associate director in Cushman?s Capital Markets Group. After three years at the firm d?Hemecourt formed Harborlight Advisors, a property investment and development consulting company in the Boston area, in 2010.
d?Hemecourt has completed more than $2 billion in sales and leases totaling 9 million square feet. He?s worked with a variety of shopping center owners, including Morgan Stanley, Federal Realty Investment Trust, Kimco, WP Realty, Lehman Brothers and Centro Properties.
Boston Realty Advisors is a full service commercial brokerage firm founded in 2001. BRA focuses on investment properties throughout New England.

CBRE Taps Durburg To Oversee All Leasing and Sales Transaction Services

CBRE Group promoted one of its division presidents to the newly created position of Global President, Transaction Services.
In his new role, Jack Durburg, formerly president of CBRE?s U.S. Central Division based in Chicago, will be charged with expanding the firm's position in leasing, capital markets and transaction management services globally across all property types, working closely with the regional and business line leaders.
Durburg will report to Bob Sulentic, global president of CBRE, and was named a member of the company?s Global Operating Committee.
Durburg joined CBRE in June 2001 as a managing director and member of the firm's Chicago leadership team. He oversaw the integration of the local Insignia/ESG operations, which CBRE acquired in 2003, and the local Trammell Crow Co. operations, which CBRE acquired in 2006. He was named president of the Central Division in 2011.

Lashley Named Principal at NAI MLG

Craig Lashley has been promoted to principal at NAI MLG Commercial in Brookfield, WI.
Lashley joined MLG in 2006 as an investment analyst and most recently served as vice president of investments, concentrating on acquisition and asset management of existing properties in MLG's portfolio.
He worked as a registered securities representative at Wells Fargo Advantage Funds before joining MLG.

Mohr Opens New Boston/Cambridge Office

Mohr Partners Inc. opened a new location in Boston/Cambridge, MA, and selected Valerie Pontiff as managing partner. Her new responsibilities will include representing a diverse range of industries including healthcare, retail, biotech, software, construction, engineering, education and government.
Prior to joining Mohr, Pontiff served as president of Boston-based tenant advisory brokerage firm New England Property Advisors, vice president of brokerage for CBRE in Boston and director of valuation advisory services for Cushman & Wakefield in Seattle. She has more than 20 years of experience in the commercial real estate industry.

Henry S. Miller Promoted Grunnah to SVP

Henry S. Miller Brokerage LLC promoted Tom Grunnah, CCIM to senior vice president in the land and investments division. The former associate will provide clients with expertise in all aspects of land and commercial investment property transactions.
Grunnah is a 20-year veteran of the Texas commercial real estate industry. He has completed a number of transactions in the land division of properties exceeding 140 acres as well as a variety of other commercial investment opportunities.

Stan Johnson Co. Opens New Regional Office

Stan Johnson Co., one of the nation's leading commercial real estate brokerage and advisory firms of net investment transactions, opened a new regional office at 3340 Peachtree Road NE, Tower Place 100 in Atlanta, GA. The company also hired two experienced, top performing local real estate professionals, Britton Burdette (far left) and Andrew Ackerman, as associate directors.
Burdette joined from Marcus & Millichap where he specialized in office and industrial sales. He was the overall top performing office and industrial agent in the Atlanta office. Last year, Burdette oversaw more than $36 million in sale transactions.
Ackerman is the former president of Smith Attaway Co, a firm he co-founded, and spent the previous five years with Marcus & Millichap where he focused on multi-tenant and single tenant retail.
Since 2008 Stan Johnson Co. has opened offices in major markets such as Chicago, Los Angeles, New York and now Atlanta.
