steel car ports More Details about steel car ports here.

Carports are a valuable investment and have excellent utility value because they serve multiple purposes. If you are planning to install a carport on your property, there are certain things you need to consider before finalizing on a particular model. You have a wide variety of car ports to choose from and it is important that you find one that ideally suits your requirements.
  • Consider how many vehicles you need to park in your carport. You should also have a clear idea about the dimensions of your vehicles. In line with your requirements, decide on a single, double or triple carport design.
  • Consider whether you want to use the car port for other purposes also -- such as a workspace, or to store farm/yard equipment. You can also plan for a utility carport that comes with considerable open parking space as well as spacious enclosed storage at the back.
  • Metal carports are highly durable and among these steel carports are the best options if you are looking for true value for your money.
  • Go for a color and design that vibes well with your residential structure and your vehicle. You can customize the car port as regards roof style, entry points, sidewall heights and other features. You can also choose to have it completely or partially enclosed.
  • Decide whether you want a certified or non-certified model -- certified structures have an engineer's stamped approval and are wind and snow load rated for compliance with state, county and city regulations. If your requirement is to store your farm equipment, it is enough that you install a non-certified structure.
  • Budget is an important consideration when buying metal or steel carports. If you are really in need of a car port, but don't have the money ready, the best alternative is to find a dealer that offers attractive financing for your single, double or triple carports.
  • Buy from a dealer that provides installation services. This will ensure that your carport is safely installed according to relevant building regulations.

Convenient Online Purchase Options from Reliable Dealers

Steel carports can be conveniently bought from dependable dealers that focus on providing premium products to their customers. They can help you choose the right structure that will ideally meet your particular requirements. When you decide to utilize such reliable services, you can rest assured that you are getting a quality product and dependable installation and maintenance support.

Ryan, Cowboys should benefit from normal offseason

Associated Press Sports

updated 4:30 p.m. ET June 14, 2012

(Eds: Updates. With AP Photos.)

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) - Rob Ryan knows he tried to do too much in his first season as defensive coordinator for the Cowboys.

Without offseason workouts because of the NFL lockout last summer, Ryan was left with basically a cram session as he tried to install his complicated 3-4 scheme during a hurried preseason.

"You want to be best right off the bat, and you want to be multiple, that's what I like to do," Ryan said. "I think I'm smart, and I know I am, but unfortunately I probably put a little too much in too early."

The Cowboys were ultimately better on defense than the previous season, but the boastful Ryan felt his unit lost confidence late. The Cowboys lost four of their last five games, including a finale against the eventual Super Bowl champion New York Giants that determined the NFC's last playoff spot.

"It wasn't all schematic-related. The parts where I take the blame for was when there's confusion on the defense, and a lot of that was us not getting on the same page, even in training camp," Ryan said. "Little details come back and hurt you when you're playing against a Super Bowl champion. That hurt, and then the fact that I think we lost a little bit of confidence in the back end, we weren't challenging receivers."

With a normal offseason this year - the Cowboys wrapped up four weeks of on-field workouts Thursday at Cowboys Stadium - Ryan has been able to set a foundation for what they will do throughout the season.

"We're not throwing the entire playbook at these guys," he said. "We're taking slower steps. ... We understand what we're doing a lot better than we did last year at this point. It's not even close."

The Cowboys allowed 22 points and 343 yards per game last season, vastly improved after giving up a franchise-worst 436 points in 2010 with most of the same players.

But they finished with an 8-8 record after blowing five fourth-quarter leads. They opened the season losing a 14-point lead in the fourth quarter for the first time in franchise history in a loss to the New York Jets, then had two more losses blowing double-digit leads - something that had happened only twice before in the team's previous 51 seasons.

Even with all the extra time this offseason, Ryan has talked about making sure of not making the same mistake he did in training camp last year by doing too much.

Or is that just good talk?

"With Rob Ryan, he says that he's going to dial back and not do as many plays, then he adds in about five plays every day," perennial Pro Bowl linebacker DeMarcus Ware said. "So he just talks the talk, but at the end of the day he's walking the same walk and he knows he has confidence in his players to get out there and do exactly what he tells us to do, and we're doing that."

The Cowboys gave Ryan plenty of new pieces to work with, both in free agency and the draft.

Dallas signed cornerback Brandon Carr to a $50 million, five-year deal in free agency, and signed safety Brodney Pool and linebacker Dan Connor.

Then owner Jerry Jones used his first four draft picks, and five of seven, on defensive players. That included trading up eight spots and giving up their second-round pick to get LSU All-America cornerback Morris Claiborne sixth overall.

Jason Hatcher describes Ryan as a fun, caring guy who "wants you do your job the right way." The defensive end also senses the difference of having the offseason work and understands the problems from last year.

"It was more so the lockout, trying to learn on the go," Hatcher said. "He's got a lot of stuff he throws your way, but these (workouts), you can just kind of slow things down. And it's been impressive just to see, just the feeling we felt this year to last year. It's more comfortable. You play fast, there's no thinking."

That is exactly how Ryan wants his guys to play in the aggressive scheme with some unusual formations.

"We've come a long way," he said. "We like to say it's about the mathematics. We're putting in our foundation, our core stuff and I feel we have a good concept of it, a good grasp of what we're doing, and I think it's going to pay off."

Notes: The Cowboys have petitioned the NFL to open training camp three days early to open at the same time as the New York Giants, who they play in the regular season opener. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones isn't expecting "we'll get much relief there" since the decision would have to be negotiated through the players association. ... Jones says the team has all the medical records and information they need on disgruntled CB Mike Jenkins, who except for this week's mandatory minicamp, has been rehabilitating from shoulder surgery at home in Florida. "And we are continuing to get medical information," Jones said. ... Claiborne, who missed on-field work while recovering from left wrist surgery, expects to be ready when rookies report to training camp in about six weeks. ... After a couple of testy exchanges between offensive and defensive players during a goal-line period, coach Jason Garrett called the team together in a group before resuming the drills.

Vandals break windows at loggers' Olympia office

OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) -- Vandals broke more than 20 windows and left anarchist graffiti at the Washington Contract Loggers Association office in Olympia.

Association CEO Jerry Bonagofsky says employees arriving for work Tuesday found damage that totaled about $30,000.

The News Tribune reports ( http://is.gd/R7GDZA ) a message spray-painted on a wall along with an anarchist symbol says, "You're never safe. Go Log in Hell."

Bonagofsky says employees are upset. He says nothing like this has ever happened before at the office. The trade organization for independent loggers has been based in the Olympia area since about 1970.

KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) ? Afghanistan's president said Saturday that the United States failed to consult Afghan forces when calling in an airstrike that killed 18 civilians, and warned that in the future his government will consider such actions as violating the country's pact with Washington.

In the east, meanwhile, a Taliban suicide bomber disguised as a woman wearing a burqa killed four French soldiers when he blew himself up in a market.

Both Karzai's condemnation of the U.S. operation and the French deaths as that country rushes to pull out its combat forces were reminders that the international exit from Afghanistan is going to be far from orderly. As more agreements are signed promising Afghan sovereignty and more NATO troops are assigned the role of trainers or advisers, the international mission in the county is becoming increasingly muddled.

Presidential spokesman Aimal Faizi said that President Hamid Karzai met with investigators earlier in the day and concluded that U.S. troops had called in Wednesday's strike without coordinating with Afghan units.

The incident occurred during a nighttime raid on militants taking cover in a village. These raids are a major irritant in Afghan President Hamid Karzai's relationship with the international military coalition. Karzai says the raids put civilians at risk of injury or death. Military officials say such operations are key to capturing and killing Taliban leaders.

The U.S. and Afghanistan signed an agreement in April that put the Afghan government in charge of most such "special operations" ? a move designed to resolve some of the longstanding tensions.

But when villagers in Logar province displayed the bodies of 18 civilians killed in a U.S. airstrike on Wednesday, Karzai quickly called on the international coalition to explain itself. Faizi said that the investigators told the president that Afghan forces had surrounded the house in question but that the U.S. troops decided not to wait for them to try to flush out the militants and called in aircraft instead. They only discovered later that there had also been women, children and old men inside.

"This airstrike was a one-sided decision, and not coordinated with Afghan security forces," Faizi said. He said that Karzai and his advisers decided after hearing the investigators' report that they would consider such actions in the future as a breach of the special operations pact.

"The continuation of uncoordinated operations and civilian casualties are against the recent decisions made between Afghanistan and the United States," Faizi said. He said the Afghan government felt that the United States was betraying the promises it made in the night raids pact and a larger strategic partnership agreement signed afterwards.

"The expectation of the Afghan government and the Afghan people was that a new page would open between Afghanistan and the United States," Faizi said.

The U.S. commander in Afghanistan apologized for the civilian deaths on Friday and a NATO investigation ruled that the coalition forces were responsible for the unintended deaths of civilians. However, NATO officials have not said that they acted against the special operations agreement.

A spokesman for NATO forces in Afghanistan declined to comment on the Afghan findings. NATO forces "are going to wait until the final results from the investigation team come out until we make any comment on that," said Col. Gary Kolb. Both Kolb and U.S. Embassy spokesman Gavin Sundwall declined to comment on whether the pact on special operations had been violated in the Logar incident.

The attack on the French forces took place as they were responding to a report of a bomb planted under a bridge in the main market area of Kapisa province's Nijrab district, said Qais Qadri, a spokesman for the provincial government.

The bomber walked up to the soldiers and detonated his explosives, Qadri said. France's defense ministry confirmed the nationality of the dead and said another five French troops were wounded in blast. The ministry said they were on an operation supporting the Afghan army but did not provide details.

Taliban spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid claimed responsibility for the attack in an email.

Qadri said four Afghan civilians were also wounded.

The Kapisa bombing was the second deadly attack on NATO troops reported on Saturday. NATO forces said earlier in the day that a service member was killed in a bomb attack in the east. A spokesman for the international coalition, Maj. Martyn Crighton, said the attacks were not related and happened in different parts of the east.

The latest deaths bring to 13 the number of international troops killed in June. So far this year, 189 international service members have been killed in Afghanistan.

French President Francois Hollande said he has asked his defense minister Jean-Yves Le Drian and the chief of staff of the French army Edouard Guillaud to travel to Afghanistan Sunday in a show of support for France's troops there.

Speaking on French television from Tulle, France, Hollande said an aircraft has already left to fly to Afghanistan and repatriate the wounded as soon as possible.

The recently elected Hollande campaigned on a promise to pull all of France's combat troops out of Afghanistan by the end of the year ? well before the 2014 goal for the majority of NATO combat troops to have left the country.

Last month, Hollande announced that 2,000 combat troops would be withdrawn, but that he would leave around 1,400 soldiers behind to help with training and logistics.

France now has 3,400 troops and 150 gendarmes in Afghanistan. Under Hollande's plan, some would stay behind to help send military equipment back to France, and others would help train the Afghan army and police. He did not provide a breakdown for the roles of the 1,400 soldiers who will remain past 2012 or how long they would stay.

Hollande said Saturday that the drawdown of French troops in Afghanistan will begin in July and finish by the end of the year.

Kapisa province has been a particularly deadly posting for French troops. In January, an Afghan soldier shot and killed four French troops on a base in the province.

Woo Du-An: Letting the Rain Fall

"A rainbow is how light finds its way through the tears of the sky." -- Woo Du-An

One of America's most popular jazz songs is the tune "Stormy Weather," written in 1933. I suspect that classic has endured the test of time because it so honestly and directly expresses the universal experience of hard times and the misery of unrequited love.

So how do we deal with stormy weather in our lives? There is no simple answer for that, but there are a lot of things that help: friends, prayer, acceptance, endurance, exercise, meditative practice, watching "Dancing With the Stars" -- every little thing that reminds us to be our own best friend even when the sky is falling.

Sometimes it helps to stop for a moment and just let the rain fall. When we're going through a stormy time it's hard to see beyond our veil of tears, but God is right there in every tear that's shed.

We are a collection of dark and light. This is part of the complexity of the human moment. This will never change. We are a collection of motivations, abilities and personalities. Some visible. Much invisible. What is sometimes hard to believe is that within the secret journey of the heart God is our companion equally within the dark and the light.

The soul is a lot more magnanimous than we are. When we're in the dumps we will tend to project our lack of magnanimity upon, well, pretty much everything. But remember when you toss in the compost, when you aerate the soil, the dirt becomes fertile. When you allow the water of love to digest what you fear is rotten you prepare the ground for new life. You don't amend the soil with a shiny piece of stainless steel; you add things that are juicy, stinky and weird. We are the garden that receives the rain. What we do to mix the dark and the light and all the shades in between to allow new life forms the substance of the journey between birth and death.

It is when there is a parting, a time of change when our heart is aching and our mind does not have answers that we have an opportunity to fall into grace. In the exposure of leave taking there's not much to conceal the light of our vulnerability. Yes, that is exactly what I meant to say: "The light of our vulnerability." If we can pause for a moment and just let the rain fall, witness the weather and the changing landscape as something new and unknown in the process of creation, take a breath of curiosity and wonder, there is an inner light that will provide sufficient illumination to take us through the night. The moment becomes more vivid. There is a quality of awakening. We're a little less frightened of life. And because we have nothing left to hide or to lose, we can sit in the presence of an aching heart and just be there. We can witness the rainbow.

Azerbaijan Opposition Official 'Incensed' By Ex-Ambassador's New Oil Industry Job

KABUL, Afghanistan -- A top Azerbaijan opposition official said his group was "absolutely incensed" by the recent news that the latest U.S. ambassador to the Central Asian nation had taken a lucrative job at a state-controlled oil company.

Matthew Bryza, who until last December was President Barack Obama's appointed ambassador to Azerbaijan, took the job on the board of Turcas Petrol company, which is partly controlled by the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic, according to reports in regional newspapers.

Murad Gassanly, an Azeri opposition activist based in London, decried the move as the latest hint of a craven American foreign policy toward the oil-rich, but autocratic nation -- which also happens to be a major strategic partner to American interests in the region.

"We are absolutely incensed by Matthew Bryza's appointment," he told The Huffington Post by email.

Stanley Escudero, who was U.S. ambassador to the nation in the 1990s, remained in the country after leaving his post to run businesses there, Gassanly said. He now maintains Azeri citizenship.

And the currently nominated ambassador to the nation, which was repeatedly described as a repressive and restrictive nation in the latest State Department Country Report on Human Rights, is Richard Morningstar, the former State Department special envoy for Eurasian energy, and "one of the key promoters of energy projects in the region," Gassanly said.

"This shows that U.S.-Azerbaijan relations can only be described as oil-soaked," said Gassanly, who is the director of the Azerbaijan Democratic Association in the U.K. "Forget human rights and democracy."

Matthew Bryza could not be immediately reached, nor did State Department officials respond to a request for comment. Bryza was never confirmed in the Senate to serve as ambassador, and instead kept the post through a series of temporary assignments by the Obama administration.

There is nothing inherently illegal or improper about a former diplomat taking a job with the country in which he served, but opposition groups said they found the move unseemly, and fitting with a general sense that the administration does not take their concerns about human rights violations seriously.

During a recent visit to Azerbaijan, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton did meet with a popular, young pro-democracy activist, and encouraged him to continue advocating for democratic reform in the nation. Gassanly called the meeting a stunt designed "to deflect attention from the fact that [Clinton] refused to meet [more senior] opposition leaders and activists."

Land routes through Azerbaijan are expected to play a key role in the American exit from Afghanistan over the coming years, and the nation has also emerged as a crucial ally to Israel and the U.S. in their efforts to stymie a burgeoning nuclear program in Iran.

According to recent reports, Azerbaijan made some of its military air bases available to the Israeli military in advance of possible operations against Iran, a claim that Israeli officials later denied.

Full-scale assault feared as Syrian troops shell city

The former U.N. secretary general, who brokered the peace deal that was to be implemented in Syria, has conceded that the plan is not working. Meanwhile, U.N. monitors attempting to investigate the latest massacre in Syria are facing gunfire. NBC's Ayman Mohyeldin reports.

By msnbc.com staff and news services

Updated at 8:45 a.m. ET: Syrian troops on Friday shelled a rebel-held neighborhood in the flashpoint central city of Homs as President Bashar Assad's troops appeared to be readying to storm the area that has been out of government control for months, activists told The Associated Press.

The U.K.-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights and the Local Coordination Committees had no immediate word on casualties from the shelling of Hom's Khaldiyeh neighborhood. Amateur videos posted online showed a small white plane, apparently a drone, flying over Homs.

Homs has been one of the hardest hit regions in Syria since the uprising against Assad's regime began in March last year. The U.N. said several weeks ago that more than 9,000 people have been killed since the crisis began while activists put the number of dead at about 13,000.

Also on Friday, the BBC reported that?UN monitors had reached a village in nearby Hama province?where about 80 people, including women and children, were shot or stabbed. U.N. observers came under fire Thursday as they tried to reach the site in Mazraat al-Qubair, a small farming community of 160 people, mostly Bedouins.

Rebel fighter: Syria army firing on more villages after 'massacre'

Meanwhile, a car bomb exploded in a suburb of Damascus on Friday, killing at least two security force personnel, activists told Reuters.

Rebels in Syria say Assad's forces had slaughtered at least 78 people, including women and children, but Assad's people say it was the rebels and the numbers were far fewer. ITN's Paul Davies reports. Warning: Some pictures in this report are disturbing.

The Syrian Observatory for Human rights said the blast in the suburb of Qudsiya targeted a bus transporting members of Syrian security forces, and was followed by heavy gunfire.?

    'Extremely tense'
In Geneva, International Committee of the Red Cross spokesman Hicham Hassan told reporters Friday that the humanitarian situation in Syria was worsening.

"Currently the situation is extremely tense, not only in Houla, not only in Hama, but in many, many places around the country," he said. More than 100 people were massacred last month in Houla; the opposition and the regime blamed each other.

Syrian activists say 100 people were killed by government supporters Wednesday in the province of Hama, including many women and children. Meanwhile, diplomatic efforts to quell the crisis continue to stall. NBC's Ayman Mohyeldin reports.

Hassan the the areas targeted in the latest attacks were the countryside of the northern city of Idlib, suburbs of the capital Damascus, the eastern province of Deir el-Zour and the coastal region of Latakia.

UN: Monitors shot at trying to reach Syria 'massacre' village

The ICRC wants to help 1.5 million people, some of whom need basic assistance such as bread. Hassan said many are also worried about people they have left behind adding that most of the people who fled from Taldaw, a village in the Houla region, were women and children.

"They don't know what happened to the people who remained," he said.

Also Friday, the opposition called for anti-government protests after the weekly noon prayers.

It was still not clear if observers have entered Mazraat al-Qubair, where activists said dozens of people, including women and children, were killed on Wednesday. A team that tried to reach the area on Thursday was shot at.

NYT: US envoy fears Syria conflict will develop into regional sectarian war

Activists said the Sunni village is surrounded by Alawite villages. Alawites are an offshoot of Shiite Islam and Assad is a member of the sect, while the opposition is dominated by Sunnis.

A government statement Thursday on the state-run news agency SANA said "an armed terrorist group committed an appalling crime" in Mazraat al-Qubair, killing nine women and children. It said residents appealed for protection from Hama authorities, who sent security forces who went to the farm, stormed a hideout of the group and clashed with its fighters.

    'Doubled down on his brutality'
As reports emerged about the Mazraat al-Qubair -- which would be the fourth such mass slaying of civilians in Syria in the last two weeks -- the United States condemned Assad, saying he has "doubled down on his brutality and duplicity."

U.N. patrols in Syria have on several instances been deliberately targeted with heavy weapons, armor-piercing ammunition and a surveillance drone, U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon told the Security Council, according to a senior U.N. official. The official, speaking on condition of anonymity because Thursday's council meeting was private, said Ban also reported repeated incidents of firing close to U.N. patrols, apparently to get them to withdraw.

11-year-old boy says he survived Syria massacre

International envoy Kofi Annan, whose peace plan brokered in April has not been implemented, warned against allowing "mass killings to become part of everyday reality in Syria."

"If things do not change, the future is likely to be one of brutal repression, massacres, sectarian violence, and even all-out civil war," Annan told the U.N. General Assembly in New York. "All Syrians will lose."

U.N. diplomats said Annan was proposing that world powers and key regional players, including Iran, come up with a new strategy to end the 15-month conflict at a closed meeting of the Security Council that took place Thursday.

The Associated Press and Reuters contributed to this report.

ADAM28, a metalloproteinase belonging to the ADAM gene family, cleaves the von Willebrand factor (VWF) and inhibits VWF-mediated cancer cell apoptosis, thereby enhancing lung metastases, so inhibiting its expression gives a substantial reduction in lung metastases, according to a study published June 8 in the Journal of The National Cancer Institute.

Several ADAMs are known to be found in tumors and are linked with both tumor growth and cancer progression in humans. While ADAM28 is overexpressed in both breast and non-small cell lung cancers, the mechanism of ADAM28-mediated metastasis is unknown.

In order to search for substrates of ADAM28, Satsuki Mochizuki, Ph.D., of the Department of Pathology at the School of Medicine at Keio University in Japan, and colleagues screened a human lung cDNA library for ADAM28-binding proteins by a yeast two-hybrid system, and identified VWF as a candidate. ADAM28's effect on VWF-induced apoptosis was measured in various human cancer cell lines, while the effect of its inhibition on lung metastases of human lung cancer and breast cancer cells was investigated in mouse models.

The researchers found that inhibition of ADAM28 expression or activity showed a substantial reduction in lung metastases and increased apoptosis of cancer cells in blood vessels. "Our data in this study have demonstrated that VWF induces apoptosis in many human cell lines established from carcinomas of the lung, breast, kidney, and liver only when they have very low-level expression of ADAM28 or when the activity and/or expression are knocked down," the researchers write. The researchers note the limitations of the study, however, namely that the model doesn't reflect the spontaneous metastatic process of human cancers that involves invading carcinoma cells from the primary tumors during a long period of time. Still they feel that, "the results suggest that ADAM28 has dual promoting effects on carcinoma cell proliferation and spontaneous metastasis to distant organs."

In an accompanying editorial, Stanley Zucker, M.D. and Jian Cao, M.D., of the Department of Medicine at Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Northport, New York, write that the study opens the door to many other questions regarding the metastatic process. For example, they write, "An association of VWF levels in blood and tissues and ADAM28 levels in patients' tumor tissue with indolent versus aggressive cancers would be revealing." They also point out that the fact that mouse lung metastases occur within weeks, but human metastases over years is cause for concern.

The researchers also pose the question of whether a small number of driver genes will be identified in the metastatic process, or individual human tumors will require different proteins to complete the metastatic process. They write, "We have the cell and molecular technology, animal models, and clinical tools to solve the problem, but the path to drug discovery for treatment of metastasis and the dream of turning cancer into a "chronic disease" might turn the dream into an obstacle."
